Rod was born in North Dakota in 1958 and developed a deep love for birds and nature from an early age. After moving frequently throughout the Western U.S., he settled in Utah in 1975, where he discovered his passion for art during high school. Mentored by local artists, he began painting oil landscapes, which were soon exhibited in Salt Lake City galleries. He later earned an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design, further honing his artistic skills. Known for his depictions of landscapes, wildlife, and early agricultural scenes, Rod’s work reflects his lifelong interests in hunting, fishing, falconry, and the natural world.
