The son of well-known Texas painter W.R. Thrasher, J.W.'s paintings reflect his extensive knowledge of wildlife. He has been a professional artist since 1962. His paintings have been featured as covers on magazines such as Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Texas Outdoors Journal, Independent Cattlemen, and Safari Club. He was selected Texas Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, South Carolina Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, and featured artist at the National Wildlife Art Show.
