Barrel Length: 32 in.
OAL: 48.5 in.
Condition: Good-antqiue; wood stock has moderate wear w/ dark patina; barrel has mostly gray patina w/ scattered pitting; lockplate has mixed blue/gray color w/ light pitting; brass fittings all have nice aged patina & wear; bore is dark & pitted; mechanically good
Includes: brass fittings & patch box; steel ramrod; "US" stamped socket bayonet
Marked: lockplate reads "WINDSOR VT / 1852" behind the hammer and "ROBBINS / & / LAWRENCE / U.S." in front; buttplate marked "U.S"
Note from owner:  U.S. rifle, 1841. Known as the Mississippi rifle, this weapon was developed for military service during the various engagements of Jefferson Davis.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
