Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has some visible repairs at the wrist & on the belly of the forend and likely restained; barrels have dark brown patina w/ pitting & rust; lockplates have faded case colors w/ some pitting; bores are dark & pitted; left hammer does not lock back; upper barrel tang is a replacement with visible repairs
Includes: straight grip stock w/ checkering; pineapple engraving details w/ American shield crest on trigger guard; old-plated inset stamps on tops of each barrel near percussion nipples; ramrod; replacement percussion nipples; replacement screw in the trigger guard
Marked: lockplates read "S. NORTH."; barrel stamps read "S. NORTH. / MIddletown"
Note from owner:  Shotgun by the famous contract arms marker Simeon North of Middletown, Conn. The percussion weapon (converted from its original flintlock ignition system) may well be the only known shotgun by this maker. He was the first official pistol maker for the government (beginning in 1799).
There are no documented examples of a Simeon North produced SXS shotgun.
