Barrel Length: 40 in.
OAL: 57.5 in.
Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has mostly moderate wear & patina w/ splitting on either side of the wrist; missing screw on the lower brass toe protector; barrel & lockplate have brown patina w/ rust & pitting; bore is dark & pitted w/ worn rifling
Includes: full-stock walnut; missing ramrod; light engraving on lockplate w/ hunting scene; heavy octagon barrel
Marked: lockplate reads "FORD BROTHERS"; top of the barrel reads "E.C. BURDEN"
Note from owner: A Kentucky full stock rifle actually made in Kentucky by the well known family of Burden gunmakers. They operated in and around Elizabethtown, Ky. during the early and mid-19th century. The lockplate is marked "Ford Brothers."

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
