Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has significant wear w/ some splitting & repairs around the side & lockplates; chipping at the forend and is loose at the forend as well; barrel & lockplate have brown patina w/ rust & pititng; bore is dark & pitted; mechanically functional, but hammer (cock) wiggles and has clunky operation
Includes: full-length burl striped stock; wooden ramrod; initials & eagle mounted on left side of stock; brass mounted plates around the trigger guard & brass sideplate; set trigger
Marked: left side of barrel reads "S  514"; "SCM" initials mounted on stock
Note from owner:  Flintlock full stock rifle. Very typical of famous Kentucky rifle that went west with the settlers, Pennsylvania maker unknown.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
