Condition: Good-antique; wood stock has moderate wear & dark patina commensurate w/ age; barrel & lockplate have brown patina coating a bright polish metal w/ scattered rust & pitting; bore is dark & pitted; mechanically functional
Includes: 1795 pattern stock & fittings w/ sling swivels; flint in the hammer (cock) jaws; ramrod
Marked: lockplate reads "TOWER" behind the hammer and has a crown in front of the hammer; top of barrel marked w/ "L.H. 1822"; barrel aslos has "P" and "V" stamps
Note from owner: U.S. Militia flintlock musket dated 1822. This specimen incorporates an English "Brown Bess" lock. It was not unusual to use English, French, German and Dutch locks on our first firearms.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
