Condition: Good-antique; wood stock has mostly light wear w/ a glued chip at the forend; barrel & lockplate have dark brown patina w/ rust & pitting; bore is dark & pitted w/ worn rifling; mechanically functional, but hammer wiggles and action is clunky
Includes: heavy octagon barrel, half-stock; stock inlay in shape of arrow, heart, etc.; set trigger; wooden ramrod; brass patch box
Marked: lockplate reads "JAMES GOLCHER / WARRANTED / FORGED"; barrel marked "A. BONNET / BROOKVILLE PA" & "1884 - 48" on the left barrel slant
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
