Condition: Good-Antique; wood stock & forend have wear & patina commensurate w/ age & use; scattered wear, dings & scratches; barrel retains some blue finish w/ gray/brown patina & scattered rust/pitting; receiver & hammer retain some nice case colors in protected areas w/ the rest fading to brown/gray patina; light rust & pitting; upper & lower tangs have nitre-blue color finish w/ moderate wear & grease; bore is mostly bright w/ some pitting near the muzzle end; strong rifling; mechanically very good
Includes: 2-leaf rear sight; saddle ring & bar; takes copper or tapered foil cartridge
Marked: lockplate marked "BURNSIDR RIFLE Co / PROVIDENCE RI"; top of frame is marked "BURNSIDE PATENT / MODEL OF 1864"; faded "CAST STEEL 1864"; left side of stock wrist marked w/ "RKW" (Robert K. Whiteley) cartouche
