Condition: Good-antique; wood stock has light wear & ding marks for age w/ splitting on left forend; brass has moderate wear w/ nice aged patina; lockplate has gray metal finish w/ brown hue & light rust; bore is dark; mechanically good; bayonet mounting broken off
Includes: brass barrel & mountings; ebony ramrod; spring bayonet is detached from mounting; dove engraving on buttplate tang
Marked: lockplate reads "Wheelen" in cursive script; barrel reads "London" in cursive script; crown / "P" and crown / "V" proofs on left barrel slant
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
