Condition: Very good-antique; wood stock has very light wear on refinish; barrel & breech mechanism have a plum brown patina w/ some pitting; bore is mostly bright w/ some fogging & light rust; strong rifling
Includes: steel ramrod; sling swivels
Marked: faded "J.H. Hall / ? / US / 1832" on top of breech block
Note from owner:  U.S. Hall rifle, Model 1819. The first American breech-loader, it was invented and patented by John Hall, a manufacturer from Maine.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
