Condition: Fair; grips have pressure dents & scratches throughout with a large chunk missing from bottom of right panel; oxidation & light pitting, most of the finish has turned grey with some bluing in protected areas; cylinder drag & burn rings with fouling in chambers; bore is fair with fouling in grooves; holster is worn with some markings fading; verdigris around brass components
Includes: period correct leather holster
Marked: R.A.C. & L.E.B. inspectors mark; "US" on holster: "ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1908", "14-CAV" / "6S" on reverse of holster
Notes: missing lanyard loop
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
