Marked: lockplate reads eagle head / "A. WATERS / MILBURY.MS / 1838"; barrel reads "N. CAROLINA" next to "JH / P"; "MPL" stock cartouche next to inlay shield; stock flat also marked "F" and M"; "H" on trigger guard
Note from owner:  U. S. Model 1836 flintlock pistol. The last of the flintlock handguns issued to the military, this specimen is marked "North Carolina" and shows personal or militia decorative inlays in the stock.
