Note from owner: Flintlock English blunderbuss marked "John Jones, London & H.B.C.". Jones was an armorer for the Hudson's Bay Company at York Fort on the western shore of the Hudson Bay, 1784 - 1793. This is one of the earliest identified firearms to have seen service in the American West - 10 years before Lewis and Clark.
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
