Includes: German silver mountings throughout depicting eagles, & cheribbum; checkered wrist; ramrod; wrapped flint still in jaws of the lock
Marked: lockplate marked "MIDDTN / CONN / 1839" behind the hammer; "U.S. / N.STARR." in front of hammer; top of barrel marked "US / JH / P"; barrel tang is dated "1839"; buttplate tang marked "U.S."
Note from owner: Model 1816 flintlock musket, dated 1835.Embellished by arsenal artisan for diplomatic occasions, Native American functions, shooting prizes & special acts of heroism. They were replaced by the military medals and are rare.
