Includes: extensive German silver inlay featuring crescent moons, hearts, stars, an eagle , and more; heavy octagon barrel; ramrod; checkered wrist; lightly engraved lockplate; set trigger
Marked: lockplate possibly reads "Edwin Hunt" an English lock maker; barrel is signed "D B" in cursive script consistent with Daniel Border signed rifles
Note from owner:  Half stock rifle silver inlaid percussion by Daniel Border of Bedford County, Pennsylvania circa 1855. Prolific craftsmen, the Border family made quality rifles for the American Frontier during much of the 19th century.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
