Includes: military musket style stock w/ brass fittings; missing ramrod; wrapped flint in the "Mexican" style repair to the hammer (cock) jaws; sling swivels
Marked: lockplate reads "TOWER" behind the hammer and has a crown / "GR" w/ a broad arrow next to it; barrel and stgock marked w/ various English proof marks; left side of barrel stamped "JW"
Note from owner: A British Third Model (model 1793) "Brown Bess" flintlock musket. One of the most famous firearms in America history, the weapons were used on both sides during the Revolution and War of 1812. This specimen has a long San Antonio association and features a "Mexican" repair to the hammer. Many of these muskets were carried by Mexican soldiers at the Alamo, San Jacinto and later during the Mexican-American War of 1846 - 1848.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
