Includes: tiger maple full-stock w/ extensive silver mounting; the silver inlay mounting features various small shapes including an eagle above the cheek comb; wooden ramrod; wraped flint in the hammer (cock) jaws; set trigger; small MOther of Pearl square inlaid on the brass toe shield
Marked: lockplate reads "Joseph Golcher"; the top of the barrel reads "E + L" in cursive script (possible gunsmith or owner initials); the patch box has a name that appears to read as "Jacob Horn" in cursive script.
Note from owner: Full stock flintlock Kentucky rifle. Silver inlaid, Identifier on gun. A magnificent silver-mounted flintlock Kentucky rifle by an unidentified eastern-Pennsylvania (probably Lancaster County) maker of the late 18th/early 19th century. The gun is stocked in tiger/curly maple and is of approximately .50 caliber.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
