Caliber: 58 cal.
Barrel Length: 7.5 in.
OAL: 13.5 in.
Condition: Good-antique; wood stock has fair amount of wear w/ chipping arounfd the lockplate & splits in the forend; brass has aged patina; light pitting on flintlock mechanism; bore is dark w/ some oxidation; mechanically functional, but clunky 
Includes: brass barrel & lockplate; ramrod; brass mounting
Marked: lockplate appears to read "Barber" in cursive script; barrel reads "LONDON" w/ proofs
Note from owner:  London made flintlock brass mounted holster pistol 1780 period. These brass barreled pistols were very popular on both sides of the Atlantic. Some authorities consider them trade pieces for use in the Colonies.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
