Barrel Length: 40 in.
OAL: 55 in.
Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has fair amount of wear w/ dark patina; splitting around the lock plate and repair on the wrist; the toe is completely split; barrel & lockplate have deep brown patina w/ rust & pitting; bore is dark & pitted; mechanically functional
Includes: striped wood full-stock; silver inlay fish on right side; copper wire wrapped around the wrist; wooden ramrod
Marked: lock plate marked w/ "G S" initials in cursive script
Note from owner: Full stock Kentucky rifle. A rare example of the earliest gunmakers working in Pennsylvania. They developed the style known as the "long rifle", similar to the musket.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
