Roland Delbert Enright (Texas / Wisconsin, 1921-1983), Texas river scene with piney woods, oil on canvas
sight: 30 x 70 in., frame: 39 x 79 in.
Provenance: An Austin, Texas collection
Roland Delbert Enright spent his Wisconsin boyhood drawing and sketching, and his natural love of art eventually led him to a commercial art course. He pursued commercial art as a career until World War II took him overseas for nearly three years in an armored unit. After the war, Enright married and moved to Texas. He began to focus on painting the landscapes around him, encouraged by a growing group of buyers for these works, and art soon became a full time and profitable endeavor. Enright is known especially for the versatility of composition, color, and subject matter in his trademark landscape paintings.
