Martha Tamez was born in Chicago and grew up in Saltillo, Mexico, before living among the Huicholes Indians north of Jalisco for five years. Tamez is a teacher, writer, poet, and exhibited artist, for whom "La poesia es el rocio de la imaginacion, sobre un corazon emocionado."
