David Drinkard (Texas, 1948-2016), "Sendero Crossing", acrylic on illustration board, signed lower right

sight: 24 x 36 in., frame: 32 x 44 in.

Provenance: Property from the estate of a prominent San Antonio, Texas businessman

An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, David Drinkard is best known for his powerful portrayal of marsh and bay, often with a sportsman lying in wait, in both acrylics and watercolor. Drinkard earned a Bachelor's degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, completing his formal art training in 1970. His works were frequently reproduced in sporting journals such as Texas Trophy Hunters and Petersen's Hunting Journal. Throughout his life, Drinkard was also a supporter of conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited, the Gulf Coast Conservation Association and Quail Unlimited. Sales of his sporting images have generated more than one million dollars for these groups dedicated to the preservation of the sportsman's way of life.
