Gary Sweeney holds a degree in Art from UC Irvine and has over fifty years of experience as a gallery and public artist. Sweeney’s artwork has been featured throughout the United States, as well as in Havana, Tokyo, Florence, Barcelona, Vienna, Paris and London.
Canary Islands Cow is a tribute to the Canary Islands, from which 16 families came and established settlements here in San Antonio. The spotted pattern on Sweeney’s cow takes the shapes of the various islands that make up the Canary Islands. Its colors and font are inspired from vintage maps.
