Condition: Very Good-Antique; wood stock & forend have very light wear & patina for age and have been re-varnished w/ few dings and chips present; barrel, magazine tube & receiver have mostly gray/brown patina w/ moderate wear & some spots of pitting; bluing remains in some protected areas; lever, trigger & hammer retain most of blue finish; bore retains some brightness, but has some pitting near the center of the barrel; worn rifling commensurate w/ age; mechanically good; smooth action
Includes: Letter from Cody Firearms Museum shipping it on December 13, 1886, to an unlisted address as part of Order 12903.; factory 30-inch barrel; factory set trigger; rear buckhorn sights
Marked: German silver plaque mounted on right side of stock is marked "
Buffalo Bill's / Wild West" in cursive script; left barrel slant and underside of receiver are marked with initials "WFC" (William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody)
Notes: This rifle is attributed to being used in the buffalo Bill Wild West shows that ran from 1883 to 1913, before the show went bankrupt. The Cody letter does not make mention of where it was shipped, however.
