In 1976, after eight years of teaching university art, Warren Cullar resigned his position to pursue a career as a full-time artist. "Early in my career I was a very realistic plein air painter in watercolor. In other words, I took my painting gear out into the country to paint. Today I am satisfied to bring back sketches (not photos – they are too restrictive) to the studio and create from those sketches with acrylic or watercolor."
