Ronald Vaughan (Texas, 1937-2020), bluebonnet landscape with cattle, oil on masonite, 1985
sight: 24 x 36 in., frame: 32 x 44 in.
Provenance: Property from an Arlington, Texas collection
Ronald "Ron" Vaughan was a self-taught Texas artist best known for his mastery of Texas Impressionism, a style he developed after taking early retirement in the 1970s to pursue art full-time. Although initially interested in music, his talent for visual art was encouraged during his school years in Waco, Texas, leading to a scholarship offer, which he declined to serve in the U.S. Air Force. While his early career was in data processing with the military and aerospace industries, Vaughan never lost his passion for art. Over time, he explored various media before establishing his signature style, capturing the spirit and landscapes of Texas with vibrant impressionistic technique.
