Robert Knudson graduated from the Minneapolis Art Museum School in 1950 and later became an instructor at the Kachina School of Art in Phoenix in 1963. His artistic specialty was the ancient cultures of the Hopi and Navajo, and his work focused on Western subjects, including landscapes and Native Americans. His paintings are held in the Museum of Northern Arizona and the William Penn Memorial Museum, and he was featured in the December 1987 issue of Southwest Art magazine.
