Robert Harrison was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949 and has become well-known for his paintings of Texas. He is a self-taught artist who has been creating art since he was a boy. His work hangs in the Presidential Palace in Mexico, the offices of Dolph Briscoe's Uvalde office and the University of Texas at San Antonio. His work has been displayed at the Witte Museum, the San Angelo Museum of Art and the Buckhorn Museum. In 2008, Ladybird and Lucy Johnson gave Harrison a show at Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin. In 2009, Harrison began working on The Frio Canyon Collection consisting of over fifty paintings purchased by late Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe, Jr. and adorns the walls of his banks in Uvalde, Leaky, Utopia, Carrizo Springs, and also his home and office.
