Marked: lockplate reads "S. NORTH / "U" eagle "S" / MIDLN CONN"; faded proofs on barrel slant; faded cartouche marks on left stock flat
Note from owner: U. S. Model 1816 Army pistol. The heavy .54 caliber flintlock weapon was a standard issued pistol during the Seminole and Black Hawk Indian Wars. They were manufactured by the contractor Simeon North of Connecticut from 1816 until 1819 and were intended to be carried in saddle holsters.
