Marked: lockplate is marked "WINDSOR V.T. / 1847" behind hammer and "ROBBINS, / KENDALL & / LAWRENCE / U.S." in front; hard to read date on the barrel tang appears to be "1851"; barrel is stamped "U.S. / J.P.C. / P"; "US" on buttplate tang; "K" stamp on stock inside the patch box
Note from owner: U. S rifle M1841 by the contractor Robbins, Kendall & Lawrence. One of the earliest American military rifles. The M1841 remained in service as late as the 1870's. An accurate weapon.
