Condition: Very good-antique; wood stock has very light wear for age w/ some repaired splits around the lockplate and sideplate; barrel has bare gray metal finish w/ light scattered pitting; lockplate has silver-color coating w/ some light pitting; brass mounting shows nice aged patina; bore is dark & pitted; cock does not lock back into second position
Includes: beautiful stripe maple stock; silver wire inlay on the backstrap; brass mountings w/ pierced barss sideplate; engarved lockplate; wooden ramrod; wrapped flint in jaws
Marked: top of barrel is marked "ZAZAZAZRZ?OSO" (all the "A"s are upside down and some letters overlap
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
