Condition: Good-commensurate with age; gris have some scratches & pressure dents, crack on left panel; finish has mostly faded with scattered bluing & very faint case colors on frame, oxidation & light scattered pitting; cylinder drag marks with some fouling in chambers; bore is mostly good with some sporadic light pitting, otherwise somewhat bright with strong rifling
Marked: "RANCHO MAGUEY" & " HEBBRONVILLE TEXAS" on backstrap bellow Y shaped cattle brand
Note: barrel appears to have been shortened; mechanically fair-good, 4 distinct clicks, hammer does not properly hold in position on safety notch, slight wobble in cylinder lock-up
Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
