Model: full-stock percussion rifle
Caliber: 60 cal.
Barrel Length: 29 in.
OAL: 44.5 in.
Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has wear & patina commensurate w/ age; splitting in the forend & around the lockplate & plate screws; barrel & lockplate have gray/brown patina w/ pitting throughout; bore is dark & pitted; hammer & trigger not functioning
Includes: full-stock; ramrod; horse-head brass patch box
Marked: lockplate reads "BRAZIER"
Note from owner:  Kentucky rifle, percussion full stock, maker unknown horse shaped patchbox. An eastern-made fullstock percussion rifle, shortened during it's time of use to better facilitate use on horseback. The large caliber and short length made it ideal in "running buffalo" during the early days of the 19th century. The rare brass patchbox is in the form of a horse's head.

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
