Barrel Length: 32 in.
OAL: 49 in.
Condition: Fair-antique; wood stock has mopstly light-moderate wear & handling marks, but has around the lcokplate area; barrel & lockplate have dark brown patina w/ rust & pitting; bore is dark & pitted w/ worn but serviceable rifling; mechanically functional, but the front trigger is broken in half
Includes: heavy octagon barrel; tiger stripe half stock; brass patch box; lightly engraved lockplate; wooden ramrod; set trigger
Marked: barrel reads "L. HISER"; lockplate appears to have initials "PR" or "RB" in faded Gothic script
Note from owner: An Ohio or western-Pennsylvania half stock percussion plains rifle of the 1850's; typical of the many that "went west".

Provenance: Property from the personal estate collection of iconic Texas businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Billy Joe Red McCombs (1927-2023) from his home in Olmos Park, Texas; previously on long-term loan to either San Antonio Academy or the Bexar County Courthouse; this lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity as property from the McCombs personal estate
