Rare silver British transport medal awarded to mercantile marine officers for campaigns in the Boxer Rebellion (China 1900) and the Boer War (S. Africa 1899-1902). This is a rare example (1 of 178) dual clasp transport medal named to "G. N. HUNTER,IN COMMAND", meaning this was awarded to a ship master.
-only 1719 medals were issued to officers of 181 eligible vessels; of the 1719, only 178 were issued with both the China and S. Africa clasps
-the obverse features a bust of King Edward VII reading "EDWARDVS VII REX - IMPERATOR"
-the reverse features a partial Mercator's world map over a transport ship on the ocean; reading "OB PATRIAM MILTIBUS PER MARE TRANSVECTIS ADJUTAM"
-the clasps read "S./ AFRICA 1899-1902" and "CHINA 1900"
