Provenance: Wedding gift from Mr. and Mrs. Flato to Mr. and Mrs. Kleberg in 1940; thence passed through family inheritance to the present owner

Porfirio Salinas was born in Bastrop, Texas on November 6, 1910. He lived most of his life in San Antonio, Texas where he died on April 18, 1973. Salinas painted landscapes of Central Texas with an emphasis on the vast bluebonnet fields that grow there in the springtime. He studied with the director of the San Antonio Art School, Jose Arpa, as well as Robert Wood. Lydon Baines Johnson was an avid collector of Salinas' work.
