Porfirio Salinas is celebrated for his magnificent landscape paintings of Central Texas, painting in the late American Impressionist style, with a strong sense of composition. He studied with the director of the San Antonio Art School, Jose Arpa, and Robert Wood. Salinas was one of the first Mexican-American artists to have his work widely recognized, and avidly collected by prominent figures such as President Lyndon B. Johnson. To this day, he is one of the most sought-after and collected Texas artists.
