Palmer Chrisman grew up in Austin, Texas. After his military service in World War II, Chrisman returned to Texas and established himself as a successful doctor when he began painting and traded medical services for art lessons with Texas landscape painter, Porfirio Salinas. Salinas became a major influence on Chrisman's style. Portraying the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, including fields of bluebonnets and rolling hills, the changing leaves of fall and the foliage reflected in the water of the Guadalupe River. The late President Lyndon B. Johnson once ordered thirty of Chrisman's paintings to be given as Christmas gifts from the White House. Palmer Chrisman's art can be found in both private and public collections around the country.
