Max Howard (American, 20th century), free-standing oxidized copper sculpture depicting cattails height 62 in. x width 12 in. x depth 12 in. Provenance: Property from the collection of a Rockport, Texas gentleman Max Howard was born in North Carolina, and immediately found comfort and inspiration in the river and woods that neighborhood his home, collecting scraps of tin, wood, and other materials, he would build his own tree houses. He began welding in 1965, learned from his father, and would go one to be the youngest certified welder in the state at that time, and would quickly shift his trade to artistic craft that would span 50 years, working predominately with copper and brass.
