Loren Entz developed his artistic foundation through visits to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, coursework at the Famous Artists Correspondence School while in high school, and studies with renowned realist painters Bettina Steinke and Richard Schmid. Drawing on his upbringing in a Kansas farming community and later experience as a Montana ranch hand, Entz creates narrative works in oil, charcoal, pencil, pastel, bronze, and watercolor that focus on the quieter, domestic aspects of rural and Native American life, emphasizing family, shared labor, and the emotional connections between cultures; his field painting also brings spontaneity and firsthand observation to his work. A member of the Cowboy Artists of America since 1992, Entz has received numerous CAA exhibition honors, including Gold Medals for Drawing in 1996 and 2003, Silver Medals for Oil Painting in 1994 and for Drawing and Other Media in 1993, 1995, 2005, and 2007. He was the honored guest artist at the 2006 C.M. Russell Auction of Original Western Art and received the Robert Lougheed Memorial Award at the 2006 Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition; his work was also the subject of a retrospective at the Cowboy Artists of America Museum in Kerrville, Texas.
