Jim Rey is a largely self-directed Western painter whose work is rooted in the landscapes, people, and traditions of the American West. Raised in California and later based near Durango, Colorado, Rey has developed a career centered on nationally and internationally collected paintings, with a focus on authentic Western subject matter. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Frederic Remington Art Museum and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works, Great Wonders exhibition, while his paintings have been acquired by the High Plains Museum in Nebraska and the Leanin’ Tree Museum in Colorado. His art has also appeared on numerous book covers for Louis L’Amour and Bonanza publications and has been featured prominently in Western Horseman, including the cover of its June 2011 issue, as well as in Cowboys & Indians, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, Western Art & Architecture, and other national publications.
