Jesus Mecko Casaus (Barcelona, 1926-2002), woman and child embracing, offset lithograph, hand numbered 66/275, and signed sight: 12 x 18 in., frame:17 x 23 in. Property from the collection of a San Antonio, Texas lady Jesus Mecko Casaus was a contemporary Spanish painter who studied at the Baixas Academy and the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He was influenced by the fauvist experiences and the strength of color of Albert Marquet during his training in Paris. Casaus was known for his figurative art and his unique depictions of sea life and the architecture of his native Barcelona and the town of Cudillero in Asturias. He lived most of his life between these two places. In 2008, an exhibition was held in his honor at the Real Circulo Artistico de Barcelona, and a national painting competition has been held in his name in Cudillero since 2005, and is represented at The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art in Spain
