Hand carved and sculpted Italian Carrara marble sculpture, ca. 1940s-1950s, from an Eastside San Antonio, Texas convent, Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate, the oldest order of Catholic sisters in Texas, established in 1893 in San Antonio

Provenance: The Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate Convent ordered the statue from Italy in the early 1950s, along with a sculpture of the Virgin Mary also sold in the present auction; present owners purchased it from the convent's estate sale when it closed and moved across the street in 2009.
Exhibition: From the 1950s-2009, this sculpture and that of his wife Mary (also sold in the present auction) were displayed on the altar in the convent's church. This statue has been kept exclusively indoors by the present owners
