Gilbert Duran (San Antonio, Texas, 1947-2023), "Christina Sanchez Matador", 2008, oil on canvas size: 60 x 48 in.  Artist's note: This painting was created from the theme of a very beautiful Mexican song entitled, Toro Enamorado de la Luna. My goal was to give tribute to a young and brave woman from Spain named Christina Sanchez. She was the first female to receive the title "Matador" after a short and brilliant career. She retired in 1999.
