George Schwegmann is a native of San Antonio who has a deep appreciation for the rich natural, historical, and cultural environment of South Central Texas. With a background in Zoology and Architectural Design, the self-taught artist depicts a wide variety of compositions. Schwegmann is an award winning member of the San Antonio River Art Group. In 1997 he won First Prize in the River Art's Exhibition & Competition in the Acrylics as Watercolors category, judged by renown Texas artist Dalhart Windberg. He is constantly challenging and exploring the use of acrylics and watercolor to achieve excellence in representational art. Schwegmann's Central Texas subjects include the San Antonio missions, Hill Country landscapes, bluebonnets, quail, turkey, deer, and longhorns. His love for the Texas coast is shown in his shrimp-boats, fish, waterfowl, and seascapes. Over the past decade, admiration for his work has grown rapidly as several gallery owners and private collectors have added his paintings to their collections.
