Francis "Frank" Cloonan was born in Ireland and came to San Antonio around 1908. He sold paint supplies, and in the 1920s, executed decorative paintings and murals around the city. He exhibited with the San Antonio Art League in 1926, the Artists Guild in 1927, and the San Antonio Local Artists Annual Exhibition in 1930, 1933-35, and 1943; as well as with the River Art Group from 1948 to 1950.
