Enrique Ortiz was born near Santiago, Chile in 1953 to Brazilian and Chilean parents. He graduated in the late Sixties from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile with one of the highest awards in the specialty field of Oil Paintings. Before moving to his mother's homeland of Brazil and devoting his entire time to oil painting, he worked as an art teacher for quite some time. Ortiz has participated in several exhibitions, including: Arte Popular, Salvador, Brazil in 1986; Universidad de Bahia, Brazil in 1988; The Jacaranda Country Club , Bahia, Brazil in 1989; Casa de la Cultura, Manaos, Brazil in 1991; and El Palacio de Cultura, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992.
