My name is Rory McCarthy, and I am from Houston, TX. I am a junior at Trinity University, double majoring in History and Art with a minor in Museum Studies. Fascinated with stories and identity, I love finding creative ways to combine my two majors into meaningful work.
My cow is inspired by alebrijes. I remember taking day trips to San Antonio as a child with my family. I’d always get so excited when we went to El Mercado. The patterns on my cow are both a nod to the patterns seen on alebrijes and to the patterns of San Antonio. This cow also symbolizes a reconnection to my inner child and my Hispanic roots.
