Marked: lockplate is marked "REMINGTON'S / HERKIMER / N.Y." forward of the hammer and "U.S. / 1853" behind hammer; barrel is marked "JCB / V / P", possibly more markings covered by pitting; "U.S." on buttplate tang; "I G" crudely carved into left side of stock; "MV N" crudely carved into right side of stock above patch compartment
