Condition: Fair-Antique; wood stock has significant wear & patina w/ cracks and repaired breaks; forend is worn to wear ramrod is visible; barrel is completely brown w/ rust/pitting; lockplate & hammer are mostly brown patina w/ blue hues still showing through; brass parts have fair amount of wear & patina; some verdigris; bore is dark & pitted w/ worn rifling

Marked: lockplate is marked "REMINGTON'S / HERKIMER / N.Y." forward of the hammer and "U.S. / 1853" behind hammer; barrel is marked "JCB / V / P", possibly more markings covered by pitting; "U.S." on buttplate tang; "I G" crudely carved into left side of stock; "MV N" crudely carved into right side of stock above patch compartment
